Remote interpreting, whether by video or telephone, has been around for a while especially in healthcare. The worldwide pandemic has only added a new layer of relevance to this medium for language access. Interpreters assume additional responsibilities and roles in remote settings. This session focuses on setting oneself up for success in remote interpreting. This starts with selecting the right equipment for remote interpreting. Then remote interpreting protocols and professional etiquette are highlighted. Finally, the session will discuss ethical questions that come up during remote interpreting and how to best address them.
